Diagnostic
Imaging represents one of the fastest changing medical
technologies available to physicians, allowing for faster
and more definitive diagnosis to assist physicians in
treating their patients. As radiology technology procedures
evolve and new scanning techniques introduced, it becomes
increasingly difficult for physicians to stay current with
the ever-changing protocols required for optimal diagnosis.
For over 10 years now, Medicalis’ focus
has been about Continual Improvement in the use of
Diagnostic Imaging services. Working with Dr. David Bates
(Institute of Medicine; Crossing the Chasm and To Err is
Human) to apply his quality focus to radiology practice in
the mid-90’s, Medicalis pioneered the Quality initiatives in
Radiology ordering with Dr. Ramin Khorisani.
By combining a new scientific process
with new technology, we have vastly compressed how quickly
new diagnostic findings can impact clinical practice. We
believe change is driven by knowing where you started and
how you are progressing. It’s about …
…collecting
current orders
…analyzing
the efficacy of tests in specific clinical conditions
…intervening
specifically where care-paths require further attention
…monitoring
and refining the new standard of care
…not just
once, but continuously.
Medicalis clinically-focussed feedback with concrete metrics
is the critical loop to ensuring that the highest
evidence-based clinical practice are achieved and
maintained. We believe that through this continual
improvement process, we can continue to evaluate the
efficacy of new procedures and treatments in a way that is
transparent to all stakeholders.
Medicalis has focused on delivering radiology evidence to
physicians for 10 years and our work has lead to various
ground-breaking initiatives. Our leading work has resulted
in many specific functions that are important to effective
solutions. For example, Medicalis solutions uniquely
compare
orders against coded results (radiology reports) to assess
appropriateness in ordering process
These
initiatives works are a result of Medicalis commitment to
ensure that clinical systems continue to deliver physicians
with the greatest information about the efficacy of testing.
