Medicalis Decision Assist^TM is a SDK that delivers clinical and fiscal order validation to EMR and CPOE systems. The Decision Assist^TM API is powered by Medicalis Decision Support Server^TM, and it enables systems to perform appropriateness validation on an order. If the definitive appropriateness cannot be determined based on Appropriateness Content, the API uses Decision Support Content to analyze the condition in greater detail. This process achieves a more accurate level of advice than basic scoring systems.

Flexible Interactions

Medicalis Decision Assist^TM offers EMR venders and developers a number of integration options:

Web Service API - This interface gives systems integrators direct access to the underlying Medicalis Decision Support Server, procedures, and indications. Web Services allow Medicalis to reach the greatest number of vendor platforms with a single programmatic interface.

Rich API - Implementers who require less control over look and feel can use this API. Instead of data objects, the Rich API returns HTML (just like a web site). This HTML is displayed in a dialogue box within a vendor’s application. Medicalis handles presentation of dynamic indications and advice.

SDK - Medicalis also provides vendors with sample code and applications you can use as a guide, or even a base for your development. The SDK provides sample code for: generating a procedure list, generating relevant indications for display, requesting advice, answering questions, submitting outcome. The SDK also includes Advice Status Icons you can use in your application.

Collect Relevant Structure

The Decision Assist API accepts unsolicited structured procedure and indication data using CPT4, ICD9, SNOMED, and IMO coding systems. The API can also provide lists of procedures and relevant indications for each procedure.

Capture and Monitor Outcomes

As part of an effort to continuously monitor and improve the effectiveness of Medicalis Content, Medicalis Decision Assist provides a means of capturing outcome data. This data is stored in Medicalis Decision Support Server^TM, and shows how often Medicalis content is used and when advice is followed.
