Medicalis was founded in 1999 as a joint venture between Mitra Imaging and Brigham and Women’s Hospital to design and implement a web-based system for the delivery of clinical decision support to ordering physicians. The first system, RadVise, was deployed in 2001 and served as a model for the continuous design and development of clinical decision support delivery systems.
In 2002, Medicalis was incorporated as an independent company to continue to foster expertise in the integration of clinical decision support and clinical workflows. The newly formed company retained many of the original contributors to the RadVise product, which was renamed to Percipio, the Latin term meaning to gain, learn, perceive, understand.
As Percipio continued to develop,
so did opportunities for new deployments such as in the
demanding environment of an Emergency Department. As the
success of Percipio grew, Medicalis found new opportunities
to connect healthcare, linking ordering physicians, service
providers and managed care organizations to automate requests
for pre-authorizations and verify patient eligibility for
tests.
Today, Medicalis stands ready to
continue providing unparalleled decision support capabilities
across diagnostic domains, applying proven solutions to
improve order management in diagnostic healthcare.
